Airbus UK Broughton 2-2 Guilsfield: Airbus Held To A Draw After 10-man Guilsfield Comeback

Airbus UK Broughton were held to a 2-2 draw at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium as 10-man Guilsfield thought back through a Greg Draper brace.

George Peers slotted for the home side in the first forty-five while Oli Lanceley hit home in the second half. Draper then fought back with two goals for the Guils after Adam Ford got sent off for the way team.

The result sees the Wingmakers two points clear of second place Llandudno who have played a game more and remain four points clear of tonight’s opponents who play played a match less than Airbus.


Guilsfield had the first shot in the eighth minute of the game after a nervous opening to play, Jamie Hyne crossed in a ball from a corner that found Robert James who headed wide of Lewis Dutton’s goal.

In the 19th minute, Chris Cathrall had another chance for the away side that deflected staright into Dutton’s hands.

In the 26th, Airbus had their first opportunity, George Peers had an opportunity that deflected wide in the box.

A minute later, Adam Davies turned and shot that Michael Jones palmed away.

Moments on, Simon Spender whipped in a terrific ball that found Peers at the back post as the no.11 headed it past Jones’ bottom-right.

Keeper Jones was subsequently injured after the goal was scored which forced midfielder Spencer Parrish to go between the posts for Nathan Leonard’s team as Iwan Matthews came on the pitch.

In the 38th minute, Hyne crossed in a ball that found James who headed wide of the post.

Seconds after, Greg Draper intercepted the ball from the Airbus, forcing Dutton into a fine save.

Not long after, Callum Bromley had a header attempt that Dutton managed to collect.

In the 41st minute, Hyne had an effort from 25-yards that forced Dutton to tip the chance over the crossbar.

Deep in stoppage time, Aaran Edwards had a wild effort for the Wingmakers that went wide of the goal.

The last chance of the half came in the sixth minute of stoppage where Hyne delivered a ball from a corner that found Andrew Ford who headed off target.

At the start of the second forty-five, The New Saints loanee Beau Cornish forced the Guilsfield replacement keeper into a great save after having a shot from just outside the 18-yard area.

A minute on, Oliver Lanceley had shot in the penalty area that made Parrish save to his bottom left.

In the 52nd minute Airbus got a second when Davies passed the ball in the box to Lanceley who slotted the ball in past Parrish’s bottom right.

Four on, Adam Ford got sent off for the away side after the centre-half delivered a two footed challenge on Adam Davies.

In the 66th minute, substitute Jake Eyre forced a great save from having an effort from outside the box. Eyre shot again straight after, this time the shot went off target.

TNS all-time top scorer Greg Draper gave Guilsfield hope after the former New Zealand forward hit the ball past Dutton in the 69th minute.

Davies nearly restored a two-goal lead for Airbus in the 74th minute, after the forward had a deflected shot that hit the crossbar.

Eyre had a chance cleared off the line soon after, as Broughton pressed for a third.

Cornish had a good chance from outside the penalty area in the 82nd minute that made the Guilsfield replacement keeper work to the stop the ball.

Draper gave an equaliser for Guils in the 87th minute as a shot deflected in past Dutton’s bottom left.

Steve O’Shaughnessy’s side will be in action against 15th placed Llangefni Town next Friday.

The tall striker held up the ball well throughout the match and looked like the young player secured the winner at the start of the second forty-five.
