Ruthin Town 2-1 Airbus UK Broughton: Steve O'Shaughnessy's side's unbeaten run ends at Ruthin

Airbus fell to their second defeat of the season at Memorial Playing Fields against Ruthin Town in a 2-1 loss.

William Owen scored the opener before Jake Eyre equalised later in the first half. The second forty-five proved the ultimate difference, as Gareth Edwards brought down Owain Morris in the box and the referee sent the centre-half off, Jamie Cumming then converted the spot kick that was given.

It is the first time the Bus have lost a league game since Bangor City at home in July.

The result still leaves the Wingmakers four points clear of Llandudno at the top of the JD Cymru North and have a match in hand over the North Wales Coast side.





The first chance of the game came in the fourth minute, Matthew Hill got a run on the breakaway for Ruthin and shot from just outside the 18-yard area with the attempt saved by Lewis Dutton.

Only a couple of minutes later Joe Palmer whipped in a great cross for Airbus to Jake Eyre, however the forward hit wide.

The home-side took the lead in the 14th minute. Owain Morris passed the ball to Will Owen who scored passed Dutton’s bottom left in the box.

Just four minutes on the Wingmakers were up the other end of the field. Gareth Edwards headed the ball to Oliver Lanceley as the midfielder headed just wide of the Ruthin net.

In the 20th Jamie Cumming got a shot away in the penalty area for Phil Hudson’s team, however Dutton was there to make a save at his near post.

Cumming had another effort two minutes later, this time the ball blasted over the goal and out of the ground.

In the 27th minute Eyre got in the air and headed the ball into the net for Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team , however the referee disallowed the goal for a foul.

Just past the half-hour mark, Adam Davies took a free-kick from just outside the box but the wall was there to stop the attempt.

With Just over ten minutes to go before half-time, Joe Sullivan had an attempt that Dutton collected easily.

In the 35th, Ollie Morris had a shot that hit the post with the follow up from Sam Rickett also hitting the post.

Four minutes later, Lanceley headed the ball on to Davies, the leagues leading scorer had a shot in the box that hit wide.

Moments after Airbus equalised. Eyre hit the ball in the 18-yard area and the effort curled past Ryan Goldston’s bottom-right into the net.

On the stoke of the break Simon Spender whipped in a wicked ball to Davies who head just wide of the post.

At the start of the second forty-five, Edwards brought down Morris in the box and was sent off as the referee pointed to the spot. No.7 then scored down the centre in the following minute.

A few seconds on, Airbus substitute Callum Humphries had a shot in the opposition box which Goldston managed to collect.

Before the hour mark, Lanceley got a shot away in the box which Goldston stopped.

In the 67th minute Sullivan had an attempt form 30-yards, but treadled out for a goal-kick.

Three later, goal scorer Cumming had a similar effort from 25-yards out which went away from goal.

With time running out Ryan Edwards got an attempt in the box away which curled wide of the Ruthin net in the 77th minute.

Late on in the game Ruthin almost made it three. Osian Davies passed the ball to Morris who shot in the 18-yard area only to be denied by a fantastic save from Dutton.

In the second minute of stoppage time Rickett was in one on one, however the no.8 chipped the opportunity over the goal.
