Airbus UK Broughton 1-0 Llandudno: Airbus Win JD Cymru North Title: Match Report

Airbus UK Broughton have won the JD Cymru North championship against Llandudno at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium, thanks to a 96th minute winning goal by Brady McGilloway, who was making his first appearance of the season.

The game saw Brady McGilloway score with one of his first touches of the campaign, following a torrid time with injury since September.

The match was scarred by heartache, as star striker Adam Davies, who scored 30 league goals this season, suffered a horrific looking injury that could see him out of football for a considerable amount of time.

The match started with the visitors on top; Lewis Dutton was asked to make a number of fine stops to prevent his goal being breached and Llandudno taking the lead.

On nine minutes came the best chance of the opening stages of the match for Llandudno, with Gareth Evans seeing his curling effort cannon off the crossbar and into the grateful grasp of the goalkeeper.

Twenty one minutes had been played before Airbus produced their first bit of quality, and their first chance in the match, with Adam Davies forcing Llandudno's Shaun Pearson into an acrobatic save.

The tide of the match changed from that point, a crusade of Airbus attacks coming in the second half of the first 45, Davies coming close again on 24 minutes, forcing another good save from Pearson.

Five minutes from the interval, Jay Crowther hit a powerful effort towards the Llandudno goal, but it fizzed narrowly over the crossbar.

The second half saw the Airbus control continue, with Llandudno clearly tiring and becoming frustrated.

The hosts came closest on the 60th minute, George Peers leading a counter attack that saw his effort collected by Pearson.

Sixteen minutes later, heartache struck for Airbus and Adam Davies.

As the striker was surging forward with the ball, a nasty professional foul from Llandudno's Gareth Evans saw Davies scream out in pain, as both sets of players shouted for the physiotherapists to enter the pitch.

Davies' leg appears to have been broken in the challenge, and if that is the case, then a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Wingmaker manager Steve O'Shaughnessy was seen consoling a visibly upset Evans, whose challenge did not mean to injure the forward.

After a break in the play, the match continued, Airbus still pushing for the goal that would win them the league, substitute Nathan Brown unluckily having his effort deflected into the arms of the Llandudno goalkeeper.

Ninety six minutes into the match, in the final few minutes of the game, substitute Brady McGilloway, who had not kicked a ball all season, found himself with an inch of space in the box, flicked the ball to the back post and saw the ball nestle into the back of the net.

The twenty two year old had just scored the most important goal of his young career, and had become a hero at the Holingsworth Group stadium.

Airbus had won the league in the 96th minute and Llandudno had no time to reply.
