Airbus UK Broughton 2-0 Buckley Town: JD Cymru North Match Report.

Airbus UK Broughton have beaten local rivals Buckley Town 2-0 in a highly contested Flintshire derby, with the hosts doing the double over Buckley this season, keeping them in pole position for the JD Cymru North title.

The match saw Gaz Edwards put The Wingmakers into the lead on the brink of half-time, before in-form Jake Eyre made it seven goal involvements in seven games, putting the hosts 2-0 up, and the game beyond all doubt.

Buckley started the game on the front foot, hitting the bar from an edge of the box effort just seven minutes in.

On eight minutes, Airbus created their first chance of note, Eyre cutting inside from the right wing, onto his let foot, but could only find the side netting.

Twenty minutes in, Airbus came close again, Adam Davies missing a chance one-one-one with Buckley goalkeeper Cameron Darling after Ryan Edwards cut the ball across the six yard box.

After a number of half-chances, Airbus finally took the lead in the 43rd minute, Gareth Edwards converting a header at the back post from a Beau Cornish corner.

The second half saw Buckley take the game to The Bus, creating a number of chances, most notably a free-kick from Dylan Roberts that forced an impressive low save from Airbus' Lewis Dutton.

It was, however, the hosts that would score next and put the game to bed, after some impressive work from Ryan Edwards saw him set up Jake Eyre for a tap in to make it 2-0.

Airbus next travel to bottom of the table Llanrhaedr in a match that they would expect to win, keeping their quest for the title alive.

TALKING POINT

The goalscoring ability of Adam Davies has stolen much of the headlines for Airbus this season, however the form of those around him in attack can not be ignored.

Jake Eyre, who has quickly become the first choice on the right wing, now has 11 goals this campaign, including seven goals and assists in his last seven matches; without his contributions, Airbus would not have won as many matches in recent weeks as they have.

Ryan Edwards is a consistent performer who rarely gets the credit he deserves, but finally got some recognition at the weekend, winning the man of the match award in a game that he provided a plentiful supply of crosses into the box, that on another day, would have seen him pick up three assists.

Davies has been brilliant this season, but credit must be given to those around him in attack as well.
