Airbus UK Broughton 3-0 Llanidloes Town: Wingmakers reassert their dominance in the JD Cymru North

Airbus UK Broughton remain three points clear at the top of the JD Cymru North with a game in hand.

Adam Davies netted a brace for the Wingmakers to extend his lead at the top of the golden boot race in the division.

Two goals in the first half from the striker and then one from Jake Eyre in the second-half sealed the win for the home team in a entertaining encounter.


In Just the third minute of the match, Luke Boundford got on the end of a goal-kick from Luke Evans and shot from just outside of the box with the opportunity going wide of Lewis Dutton’s post.

Five later, the Daffodils keeper Evans made a double save in the matter of seconds. Beau Cornish delivered a wicked corner kick into the box that found Oliver Lanceley who hit the ball with Evans saving to his bottom right and then Adam Davies had an attempt on the rebound which Evans saved once more to keep it goalless.

In the 15th minute of the game, Ieuan Hewitt got on the end of a whip in who shot the ball on the volley as Evans made a save to his bottom-left.

A minute on, the Wingmakers were on the attack once more. Lanceley passed the ball to Jake Eyre with forward having an effort from just outside the 18-yard area, however Evans was there to collect the threat.

The deadlock was soon broken in the 18th minute. Airbus’ main threat Davies found himself with space in the box and cut a Llanidloes defender inside and scored past Evans’ bottom-right to net a 28th goal of the Cymru North campaign.

Ten later, Boundford chipped in a ball that found Llanidloes’ no.7 Andrew Evans who had a head at goal as Dutton collected easily.

Just before the half-hour mark, Boundford had an effort from 25-yards away that palmed away and made a great save on a rebound attempt from Connor Bird.

In the 39th, Eyre crossed in a great ball that found Davies with the forward just managing to get a diving shot away that Evans saved. Lanceley then was there on the rebound and shot over the crossbar in the penalty area.

Four later, Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team almost had a second. Lanceley chipped a ball to Davies and shot past Evans’ bottom-left, but the flag went up for offside.

The second did come for Bus a minute before the break. The same link up was found when Lanceley passed to Davies as the forward shimmied in the box, dribbling in and out of the Dils defence and netted past Evans’ bottom-right from close range to get no.29.

At the start of the second forty-five, Hewitt put in a great ball from a throw-in that found Davies in the box as the forward just hit wide of the Llanidloes net.

In the 55th minute, Cornish crossed in a corner that found skipper Stephen Tomassen at the back post who headed just wide of Evans’ goal.

A minute on, Davies almost had a hat-trick when he shot in the box, however made a great save to his left.

Soon after, Andrew Evans was up the other end of the pitch for Llanidloes and forced Dutton into an excellent save down the centre of the net.

In the 65th minute it was three. Cornish whipped in a corner that found Gareth Edwards who headed it down to Jake with the forward netting into the top of the goal.

Four after, Davies hit the ball straight down the middle in the 18-yard area as Evans stopped a fourth.

In the 76th, Boundford had an effort from 25-yards out for the away team. The shot curled wide of Dutton’s goal as the clean sheet remained.

Late on in the encounter, substitute Nathan Brown crossed in a ball to Tomassen from a free-kick with the centre-half hitting wide in the box.

Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team are next in action against fourth placed Colwyn Bay next Saturday (March 5th) at Llanelian Road.

The silky striker dazzled the Mid-Wales’ team’s defence throughout the encounter and was the difference maker on the day. Davies’ excellent taken finishes shows why he is the leading scorer in the north of Wales right now.
