Airbus UK Broughton 4-2 Gresford Athletic: Match Report

Airbus UK Broughton have beaten Gresford Athletic 4-2 on the day that they lifted the JD Cymru North title, thanks to an impressive hattrick of assists from Nathan Brown, who also chipped in with a goal of his own.


The match saw the Wingmakers start incredibly quickly, George Peers slotting the ball home following a Nathan Brown corner, before the winger put in another impressive cross to find Steve Tomassen, who put Airbus two goals up on the stroke of half-time.


Brown picked up his third assist of the game when he found Oli Lanceley in the 58th minute, who passed the ball round the goalkeeper into the net, before Gresford pulled one back.


Brownie grabbed a goal of his own in the 84th minute, just moments before the away side scored their second consolation of the game.

Airbus started the game on the front foot, with Gareth Edwards narrowly heading wide in the fourth minute.


Just two minutes later though, Airbus took the lead through through George Peers, who was found lurking at the back post by Nathan Brown, whose picture perfect cross left the forward with little to do.


After 10 minutes, Peers almost had a second, Simon Spender finding hims well, but his shot was blocked by the Gresford defence.


The Wingmakers continued their attacking onslaught, Oli Lanceley hitting the post 13 minutes into the match.

Following Lanceley's chance, the game slowed down, with both sides having half-chances, but nothing to write home about.


On 31 minutes, the visitors came close to scoring an equaliser, Joe Chaplin's effort crashing against both posts and into the grateful arms of Lewis Dutton.


Just eight minutes later, Nathan Brown had two chances in quick succession, the first cleared off the line and the rebound narrowly scraping over the crossbar.


On the stroke of half-time, Airbus had a second, Nathan Brown sending another beautiful corner into the box, that was headed home by captain fantastic Steve Tomassen.


The second half began almost as quickly as the first, with Gresford aggressively pressing The Wingmakers, creating a number of chances that came close to breaching Dutton's goal.


It was however, Airbus that struck next, Nathan Brown leading a counter attack on 58 minutes, before setting up Oli Lanceley for the goal to make it 3-0 and a trio of assists for the winger.


After 64 minutes, Charlie Mann came close for Gresford but his effort was blocked well by Tomassen.

Just two minutes later, however, the visitors had a goal back, Dominic Deacon smashing the ball into the roof of the net after a corner was partially cleared by Airbus.


The hosts soon found their feet again, a plethora of chances to make it four followed the consolation goal, George Peers coming closest on 75 minutes .


After 84 minutes, it was four.


Nathan Brown added a goal to his three assists with six minutes to play, an easy one on one with the Gresford goalkeeper.


Joe Chaplin made it 4-2 with just a couple of minutes to play, with slight help from Lewis Dutton, who fumbled the ball into his own net.
