Airbus UK Broughton 5-1 Llarhaeadr Ym Mochant: Five Star Performance from Wingmakers






The Wingmakers stay seven points clear at the top of the table after a 5-1 victory over Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Beau Cornish netted in the first forty-five to give the home team the lead.

All the other goals came in the second half as Adam Davies got a brace with Jake Eyre and Oliver Lanceley getting the other two for the Bus.

Harrison Lewis got a late consolation for Marc Griffiths’ side but made no difference to the result as Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team won 5-1.


Beau Cornish had the first shot of the match in the second minute, The New Saints loanee had an effort from 20-yards which hit over the crossbar.

A few minutes on, Callum Humphries managed to get his head on a ball from a whip in by Cornish as Llanrhaeadr keeper Lee Andrew managed to tip the attempt over the goal.

In the 13th minute, Owen Payne had an effort from 30-yards out as Andrew tipped the ball over the crossbar once more.

The breakthrough was found for the league leaders in the 17th minute. After a scramble in the 18-yard area, Cornish was on hand to tap the ball in the net from close range.

After a quiet remainder for the rest of the opening half, the game livened up the in the second forty-five. When 57 minutes were on the clock Humphries had a chance for a second time in the fixture, but once more the midfielder was denied by Andrew.

On the hour mark, the JD Cymru North’s top scorer Adam Davies went on the scoresheet. The midfielder had a shot in the 18-yard area that found a way past Andrew’s bottom right-corner to double Airbus’ lead.

Two minutes on it was three. Nathan Brown passed the ball to Jake Eyre who managed to chip an effort over an on rushing Andrew, as the attempt found the back of the net.

Eyre was nearly in again eight later. The forward hit the ball for just outside the penalty area, as the attempt just went wide of the post.

It was four in the 74th minute. Davies got a chance away in the box which Andrew got fingertips to, however it was not enough to keep out the leading forward with the ball having enough power to find the goal. This was Davies’ 23rd goal and a joint record for the league.

Only a couple of minutes on it was five. Stephen Tomassen had a header in the box which hit the crossbar and down on the goal-line. Substitute Oliver Lanceley was then there on the follow up to tap home into an empty net.

The away side got a consolation in the 86th minute, as after a few shots in the Bus penalty area were blocked, Harrison Lewis got the touch that went past the defence to finish match 5-1.

A brace from Davies helps extend his lead at the top of the goal scoring charts. The way the forward has been clinical in front of goal has been the main reason Airbus are flying the top of the league.
