AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON: JANUARY REVIEW

The month of January saw Airbus UK Broughton play just two matches, following the winter break, alongside a COVID break that the league decided to enact, given that no fans would have been able to attend due to Welsh regulations.

RUTHIN TOWN (A)

The first game of the month came on 22nd January, when The Wingmakers traveled West to mid-table Ruthin Town and narrowly lost 2-1.

The hosts took the lead early on in the first half through William Owen, before an Airbus equaliser before the break.

Just two minutes after the break, Ruthin won a penalty after Gaz Edwards brought down their forward in the box and was given a red card for doing so.

The penalty was converted and despite Airbus' late push for an equaliser, it was not to be and Ruthin Town won 2-1.

CONWY BOROUGH (H)

The second, and final, match of January saw Airbus play host to Conwy Borough on a cold Friday night under the lights at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

The Wingmakers took the lead after just 10 minutes through Adam Davies, who slotted home his second 13 minutes later.

It was three before half-time, Davies turning provider this time, setting up his strike partner Oli Lanceley.

Conwy pulled a goal back in the 69th minute, but it was never going to be enough to worry Steve O'Shaughnessy's men as they continued to control the game.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Adam Davies.

A disappointing loss in the opening fixture of the month did not stop him adding three goal contributions to his tally in the second game.
