AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON: MARCH REVIEW

A busy March saw Airbus UK Broughton take some huge strides towards clinching the JD Cymru North title and promotion back to the Premier division.

A month that saw four matches, 10 goals scored, just one conceded and three clean sheets all but secured the title for The Wingmakers.

COLWYN BAY (A)

The first match of the month saw Airbus travel to seaside town Colwyn bay, who went into the match having lost just one of their seven matches under new manager Steve Evans.

It was the Wingmakers, however, that liked to be beside the seaside, as they controlled the game from the early stages.

They took the lead 21 minutes in through a Jake Eyre penalty, before the winger made it two just 10 minutes later, all but sealing the victory.

It took until the 76th minute for The Wingmakers to get a third, Beau Cornish placing the ball to the goalkeepers left hand side.

BUCKLEY TOWN (H)

The second game in March saw The Wingmakers welcome Buckley Town to the Airfield in the Flintshire derby.

The game was controlled by Airbus from start to finish, with the hosts really beginning to look like true champions by this stage of the month.

The first goal of the game came when Gareth Edwards, who was an injury doubt for the match, headed home a Beau Cornish corner on the stroke of half-time.

Jake Eyre made it two after 77 minutes, tapping the ball into an empty net following some impressive trickery on the wing from Ryan Edwards.

LLANRHAEADR (A)

Up next, Airbus travelled to bottom placed Llanrhaeadr, to play on a pitch that would have been better suited to mole hunting than football.

The amount of holes and bobbles on the pitch was astonishing, and Steve O'Shaughnessy's men were lucky to escape without serious injury.

Airbus started poorly, not being able to play their usual passing brand of football and were beginning to get frustrated.

Frustration turned to anger as the hosts took a surprising lead into the half-time break.

On 58 minutes, Jake Eyre rounded the goalkeeper but was brought down by a defender, who was sent off for his cynical foul.

The man who won the penalty took it, and scored, to put Airbus level with plenty of time to go.

The remaining 32 minutes saw flurry after flurry of Airbus onslaught, Ryan Edwards making it 2-1 on 74 minutes, before Eyre scored his second of the day just two minutes later.

Adam Davies scored a rebounded effort in the 82nd minute to make it 4-1, a scoreline that slightly flattened the away side, which was a credit to Llanrhaeadr.

A late tackle from Jake Eyre with five minutes to go saw him receive his marching orders, meaning he would miss the final game of the month, and will also miss the potentially title deciding game against Llandudno in April.

PRESTATYN (A)

The final game of the month of March saw Airbus play on another tough pitch with lots of bobbles, the Bastion Gardens of Prestatyn.

After a goalless first half that saw The Wingmakers try and find their rhythm, they were quick to make an impact in the second 45.

Beau Cornish's cross found tall striker Oli Lanceley, who headed home from six yards to give the away side the lead.

Sustained attacks saw Airbus make it two in the 77th minute, as Adam Davies scored yet another goal.

The win, alongside results elsewhere, now means that beating Llandudno on 1st April will secure the JD Cymru North title for Airbus.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: JAKE EYRE

Despite his disappointing red card in the month of March, Jake Eyre's goal contributions have lead Airbus to being in the position they are currently in, and without him, a title win in the first fixture of April would not be possible.
