Well Played Ruthin

Phil Hudson and Tommy Holmes’ team performed really well to get a result against the Wingmakers, and this reflects their form in recent time.

Ruthin have won their last five on the bounce and are fourth in the league on 35 points, 11 behind Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team.

The way the club is going, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them push for the Cymru North title next season.

Jake Eyre

Eyre netted his sixth of the JD Cymru North campaign on Saturday with a great goal in the box by and hitting the ball past Ryan Goldston’s bottom-right.

It was the forward’s third goal in his last five, if the no.10 can continue the good run of goals Airbus may well soon be back to winning ways.

Controversial Decisions

It was unfortunately a bad set of decisions from referee Iwan Griffith at the weekend. The first was where Ruthin’s top scorer Matthew Hill climbed on Joe Palmer’s back, looking back at the highlights Griffith was close to blowing his whistle but continued play with William Owen going on to score.

The second decision was where Gareth Edwards dragged back Owain Morris outside the box when Morris went down inside. This led to Griffith sending off Edwards who will unfortunately miss the next game and be a big absentee and Cumming scoring the winning from the penalty spot.

The final big call was when Adam Davies got booked for an apparent dive in the 71st minute. Ruthin captain Osian Davies tackled Davies in the penalty area, but Griffith saw no contact from his eyes.

Only A Second League Defeat

The fact that Bus have only lost two games in the Cymru North this season speaks for itself.

One other defeat in the league this season came against Bangor City in a 4-1 loss at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium in July.

In total between the two defeats, Airbus went 14 games in the league unbeaten which has put them in the great position they are in.

Still In The Driving Seat

Because of the great run of undefeated matches that Airbus had for four months from August to December in the JD Cymru North means this has left them top of the table and in pole position.

The Wingmakers are four points above second place Llandudno and have played a game less than the Seasiders, Bus are also seven ahead of Guilsfield who are in third.

This leaves the Cymru North title and promotion back to the Premier still very much in Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team hands.
