The Wingmakers edged closer to promotion and the Cymru North title with a 2-0 victory over Prestatyn Town at Bastion Gardens.

Both goals came in the second forty-five from Oliver Lanceley and Adam Davies.

It was a pretty solid display from Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team throughout when at this stage of the season it is about taking the chances when needed to get the points.

The gap is still five points between Airbus UK Broughton and Llandudno at the top of the JD Cymru North after Sean Eardley’s team got a 2-1 victory against Buckley Town at The Globe.

In the opening minutes of the match, George Peers had an opportunity for the Wingmakers from just outside the box which Richard Cowderoy stopped.

Eight minutes in, Seb Kidd had an attempt from 25-yards away for Prestatyn which went wide of Lewis Dutton’s net.

Six after, 20-year-old Owen Payne hit an effort from 35-yards out that blasted over the Seasiders crossbar.

In the 24th minute Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team had a huge chance when Payne squared the ball in the box to Ryan Edwards who shot as Cowderoy managed to make a fine save.

A couple later, George Peers squared the ball to Oli Lanceley as the number nine got a touch to send it towards goal as the effort was blocked by Prestatyn’s defence.

Two on the roles were reversed, Lanceley played a through ball to Peers who got a shot away in the penalty area that just went wide of the post.

Deep in to stoppage time Airbus almost found the net, Ieuan Hewitt played a throw in to George Peers at the back as the no.11 headed over the crossbar with the game going in goalless at the break.

At the start of the second forty-five, the ball fell to Jamie Crowther on the 18-yard line, the midfielder shot as the ball went over the Seasiders crossbar.

On the 50th minute Bus took the lead. Beau Cornish crossed the ball in to Lanceley who headed it over Cowderoy and in to the net.

Moments after, Cornish crossed a corner in that found Tomassen at the back post as the captain had a shot that hit the crossbar in the box.

Seconds on, Prestatyn were on the attack. A delivery found Stephen Lewis in the box who headed just wide of Lewis Dutton’s net.

In the 55th minute the JD Cymru North leaders had two quick chances. Hewitt crossed in a ball that found Peers who had a shot that Cowderoy stopped, soon after Cornish whipped a cross in that found Peers once more as the no.11’s attempt in the box was once more blocked by the Prestatyn keeper.

On the hour mark, the Seasiders no.7 got an effort away in the box that Dutton managed to stop as the home team came close to equalising.

Five on, Cornish crossed in a corner that found Crowther as the midfielder headed towards the goal with the attempt just going over the bar.

In the 70th, Peers passed a ball in to Davies as the league’s top scorer hit wide of the net.

Seven after it was a two-goal lead for the Wingmakers. Peers passed a ball in to Davies who scored his 30th of the season past Cowderoy’s bottom-left.

In the 87th, the Bus substitutes combined when Nathan Brown crossed the ball in the box to Bradley Knight who shot first time, however Cowderoy was there to make the stop

Deep into stoppage time, Hewitt had an overhead effort in the penalty area that just went wide of the post.

Steve O’Shaughnessy’s team will next be in action on Friday night against Llandudno at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium, a win will see Bus lift the title.

Man of the match: Oliver Lanceley

The forward made up for the suspended absence of Jake Eyre. Bus’s no.9 got the first goal of the match from a leaping headed and continued to make a nuisance of himself in the Prestatyn box through the majority of the match.
