Jake Eyre awarded The Wingmakers Writer Player of the Month for March

March was the month of Jake Eyre!

The ex-Sheffield United man was the catalyst of Airbus’ success over their three games, scoring five goals, including two braces against Colwyn Bay and Llanrhaedr.

The Colwyn Bay display in particular was a fine example of hard work paying off for the twenty-six-year-old. Both goals were taken with finesse and style against a forever chasing Colwyn outfit.

Next up was derby day in Broughton as neighbours Buckley Town visited the Airfield and those that made the short trip went home with disappointment having seen Eyre produce a moment of magic in the second period to put the game to bed following a superb ball from last month’s standout player, Ryan Edwards.

The Llanrhaedr game was that of mixed emotions and a moment that almost ruled Eyre out of contention for this award. The two second-half goals were met with euphoria from the travelling Airbus contingent, but that happiness soon turned to disappointment as Eyre was shown a straight red card for his late challenge on Harrison Lewis.

For most, a sending off would mean they are discarded from the race for Player of the Month but the former Everton man’s form cannot be ignored despite a moment of madness.

His excellence this month out ways his ten seconds of stupidity, in our opinion.
