JD Cymru North Preview: Airbus UK Broughton vs Buckley Town

Following consecutive 3-0 victories in their last two matches, Airbus UK Broughton now face the challenge of local rivals Buckley Town on Saturday afternoon, knowing that a win will keep them in control of their own destiny in the hunt for the league title.

With the grounds of both teams being just 10 minutes apart, a bumper crowd is expected at The Airfield for the Flintshire derby, and a highly contested match is anticipated.

Airbus

The Bus' 3-0 victory away to Colwyn Bay last weekend saw them maintain their three point lead at the top of the table, whilst holding a game in hand over second placed Llandudno.

The match saw in form forward Jake Eyre score twice, taking his tally to 10 in all competitions for the season, making it six goal involvements in his last six matches.

The form of Eyre has come at the perfect time for Airbus, and his versatility across the whole of the front-line makes him an ideal option for Steve O'Shaughnessy ahead of the visit of Buckley.

Speaking exclusively to The Wingmaker's Writer, Eyre said he expects a tough match this weekend, explaining that "they're really compact and every time we've played them it's been a tough game".

His ability to come inside from the right wing and open up spaces will make Jake Eyre the perfect starter for the match at the weekend to combat the compact nature of Buckley.

Lewis Dutton, Airbus' first choice goalkeeper, has seen his stock rise astronomically over recent weeks.

Always a solid, consistent member of the squad, Dutton has now kept two clean sheets in a row for just the second time this season, and is finally beginning to be given credit for the impressive displays he has put on this campaign.

Airbus have the second best defence in the league, and a large part of that is down to Dutton keeping the goals he concedes in a match to just one. but he is now getting shutouts more consistently, and this will be crucial as The Bus face a tough side at the weekend.

Manager Steve O'Shaughnessy has suggested that Gareth Edwards may be out for the match, as he missed training on Thursday with an injury, although this is not certain.

Buckley Town

Buckley Town have found themselves in limbo this season.

They sit seventh in the table, with no aspirations of promotion, but are in no danger of finishing in one of the bottom few positions in the table.

They have won just nine of their 22 league matches so far this campaign, scoring 39 times, conceding 35, which is more than double the amount that Airbus have shipped.

The likes of Jake Eyre and the high scoring Adam Davies should expect to have plenty of chances to add to their tallies when Buckley visit on Saturday afternoon.
