“It was a dogged performance today” – Mark Allen on Prestatyn victory & the weekends title decider

Many over the boarder hurry to the seaside town for their summer parties but it’s Airbus UK Broughton who will be celebrating tonight as second half goals from Ollie Lanceley and Adam Davies edged the Bus closer to JD Cymru Premier League status.

Assistant Manager, Mark Allen, noted how impressed he was with the performance under testing conditions.

“We got over the line with two good goals, particularly the second one which was a great team goal. First one was a fantastic header from Ollie.

“We (coaching staff) were really impressed with the display, especially in the second half.

“Prestatyn have got good team spirit and made it really difficult for us so we had to weather that initial storm. I thought it was a dogged performance today,” said Allen.

Airbus have had a run of fixtures that have seen them needing to defend aggressively from the get-go during the title run in and today was no different from a determined Prestatyn outfit.

“All we ask for is that the players work hard off the ball and play with intensity. The last few weeks have seen us play in tough conditions in terms of the pitch.

“When you are top of the table it comes with a target on your back, so we know teams up their level.

“It’s important for us to do what we have been doing all season. We know the level we have to be at to win in this league,” expressed Allen.

The Wingmakers have the biggest game of their season on Friday against title rivals Llandudno FC with the national TV cameras coming down to The Airfield for S4C’s first ever live broadcast of a JD Cymru North league game.

“There should be a big crowd and the TV cameras are there, but it is important to do what we have been doing all season.

“We know they are a good team. We have played them twice in the cup and the league and it has always been a tough game, so we don’t expect anything different from that on Friday,” said the Bus’ number two.
