Oliver Lanceley awarded The Wingmakers Writer Player of the Month for December

Ollie Lanceley is a fan favourite at Airbus and his valuable contribution in the month of December as earned him The Wingmakers Writer’s Player of the Month award.

The Bus had just two games in December after the cancelation of the Bangor City fixture following their expulsion from the division.

Lanceley was able to net twice as well as turn provider on two occasions to total his goal contribution tally to four over the course of the games against Holyhead Hotspur and Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant FC.

The goal against Holyhead saw the tall striker make use of his feet, reaching a George Peers pass, controlling coolly, and finishing past the helpless keeper.

The Llanrhaeadr goal was a true poachers finish with Lanceley being the first alive to the ball following a fine reflex save from a Steve Tomassen header.

‘Crouchy’ as he is nicknamed by his team-mates, has developed a terrific offensive partnership with the likes of Adam Davies and Jake Eyre this season to fire the Bus to top spot in the league.

Lanceley possesses the Peter Crouch qualities of fine hold up play, superb aerial ability as well as a tidy first touch. His large dangly frame allows him to be an incredibly useful outlet for the Bus to play off when under immense pressure.

His work rate has earned him plaudits all around The Airfield during matches and his desire to win is clear for all to see.

The mentality and want to succeed stems from the fact that he, just like last month’s POTM, is an academy graduate.

It’s fair to say Lee Starkey, the academy director, and the many youth coaches at the club have done a terrific job of nurturing and developing the likes of Elliott Orton and Ollie Lanceley.

There must be something in the water in Broughton because the level of player coming out of the academy these days is of a tremendously high standard.
